JURONG BIRD PARK
Being an ardent beginner bird watcher, I decided to pay Jurong Bird Park a visit.
I took a mass rapid transit to Boon Lay MRT Station. There is a bus interchange next to the Boon Lay MRT station. I tried to look for Bus 194 which would go directly to the Jurong Bird Park.
After waiting in the queue for about 10 minutes, I aboard Bus 194. On the way I noticed the bus passing by Jurong Industrial Park. As usual, the street is clean and neat.
The Bus 194 stopped just outside the Jurong Bird Park.
After alighting the bus, immediately appeared in front of me is a big signboard "Jurong Bird Park" with 3 symbolic flying birds.

At the ticket office, after glancing through the price list, I decided to buy a ticket with panorail ride which cost me S$22.00 (ticket without panorail ride cost S$18.00 for an adult).
After entering the gate, I saw gift shops on my right hand side. On the left, there is a staircase leading to the platform for taking the panorail. It is the panorail Main Station.

As it is about 9.30 am, the park was not so crowded. I saw a group of tourists from Taiwan. The tour leader advised the group to take the panorail first as it was not crowded then. I however, decided to take the panorail later and so I proceeded to the Flamingo Pool.
Before the Flamingo Pool, there is a place for visitors to take photo with parrots. This is a popular place where I saw visitors queuing for photograph with the lovely parrots.

Turning to the left, there were live bird in cages waiting for me. This place is called "Talking Birds". There is a variety parrots from different parts of the world on the show here. Some of the birds can say words like "Hello!", "How are you?" etc.

Not far away from the "Talking Bird" is a Flamingo Pool with at least 50 Flamingo standing and dancing. This is an excellent place for photo.

Looked at my watch, it was about 10.00 am. I rushed all the way to the Fuji Hawk Walk which was a bird prey show which is not far away from the Flamingo Pool. Crowd already gathered and seated at the theatre.

Eagle, hawk, falcon, owl gave their excellent performance continuously with interesting introduction and guide of a show leader. There were interaction between the bird, show leader and the audience.

A lady from Calcutta, India volunteered herself to the stage. She was really sporting, mingling very well with the birds and enjoying herself all the way.

There was a casualty. An eagle which supposed to land on the stage when the door of a box high up the tree opened, flew elsewhere. An attendant rushed to look for it but never returned even the show ended. This showed that bird like human has its own mood and temper. It has to be controlled so that it could perform.
The Fuji Hawk Walk ended at around 10.30 am.
I wanted to take the panorail but was advised by the customer service officer to see the Birds & Buddies show at 11.00 am at the Pool Amphitheatre as there was a long queue for the panorail then.
As it was still early, I wandered may way towards the west side of the Park. I saw various birds like kingfishers, owls, spoonbills, Scarlet Ibises.

I returned to the Pools Amphitheatre to watch the Birds & Buddies show at about 11.00 am. The show was different from that of the Fuji Hawk Walk. It was interwoven with the cartoon characters.

When the show started, a school of Flamingo came out to the stage dancing happily. Among the birds came out to the stage were parrots, Pelican, toucans etc.

Toucan performing.

Pelican performing.
The show leader invited an audience to hold a S$2-00 note at her hand. A parrot was directed to pick up the money, flew back and put the money into the show master's pocket. The parrot later returned the money to the lady.

Two parrots flew through the centre of 3 circle held by 3 audiences. The difficult was that 2 parrots flew at opposite direction and passed through a circle at the same time.

The show lasted for about half an hour.
When the Birds & Buddies show ended, I took a path beside the Pools Amphitheatre. I saw mandarin ducks along the way. In the end I reached the Southeast Asian Birds big cage.
There are variety of birds reared here. Green-winged pigeon, kingfisher, waterhen, green broadbill, myna to name a few were available here.
The show place has automatic thunder and storm at certain time interval. One of them is at 12.00 noon. I experienced the thunder storm whereby I need to open my umbrella to protect myself from getting wet.
I walked back to the Main Station. The panorail sent me to the Lory Station. Hornbills and toucan cages are located not far away from the Lory Station. The Bird of Paradise was situated opposite the road. The visitors can interact with the birds as the boardwalk was built inside the cage.

Jurong Bird Park has the world's largest collection of birds of Southeast Asian hornbills. Hornbill and Toucan signboards can be seen here. Hornbill like rhinoceros hornbill, great hornbill, black hornbill, wreathed hornbill etc can be seen here.

After the short visit, I aboard the panorail at the Lory Station which moved towards the Waterfall Station.
There is a man-made waterfall not far away from the panorail station. The humidity here is relatively high as it is near the waterfall.

Returned to the Waterfall Station, the panorail traveled by the Swan Lake, Pelican Cove, Flamingo Lake.

I alighted at the Main Station and decided to leave the Jurong Bird Park.
